Carl Lewis (USA)

Frederick Carlton Lewis was born on July 1st, 1961, Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
During the 1984 Olympics, Los Angeles, Lewis became the first athlete, since Jesse Owens, 1936, to win four gold medals in a single Olympic competition.

He won his last gold medal in the long jump at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, USA.
In doing so, he won his fourth and final gold medal of the long jump, spanning a remarkable 16 years between first and last.

Carl Lewis won a remarkable 9 Olympic gold medals over his career, in four different events. He also set world records in the both the 100m sprints and the long jump.

Carl Lewis qualified for the United States Olympic team for 4 consecutive Olympics, from1980 to 1996 as a track and field athlete.
