Emil Zatopek (CZK)

Emil Zátopek was born in Koprivnice, on September 19, 1922 in the former Czechoslovakia.

In total, he won 5 Olympic medals including 1 silver and 4 gold medals
During the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, Finland, he won the 5,000m, the 10,000m and the Marathon races in this Olympics alone.

In the 1948 London Olympic Games, he won the 10,000m event and took silver in the 5,000m race.

Zátopek dominated long distance running events winning an outstanding 38 consecutive 10,000m races between 1948 and 1955, with a remarkable 11 in 1949 alone.

He set 18 world records over different distances and set world records in every event from 5,000m to 30,000m.

In 1956 he retired from competition.
