Mark Spitz (USA)

Mark Spitz was in on February 10th, 1950, California, USA.

Mark Spitz took part in his 1st Olympics in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, Mexico.
He won 2 gold medals in team events in the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m freestyle relays.
He also took a silver medal for the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 100m freestyle.

In 1972 Munich Olympics, ‘West Germany’, Mark Spitz became the first Olympian to win 7 Gold Medals in a single Olympic Games.

He took gold’s in the following events:

100m Freestyle, 100m butterfly, 4x100m Freestyle Relay and the 4x100m Medley Relay.
He repeated this remarkable feat in the 200m Freestyle, 200m butterfly, 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay.

Since then, only Michael Phelps has matched or surpassed the achievement.
