Roger Federer

Roger Federer was born August 8th 1981 Basel, Switzerland

He started playing tennis at 6 years of age.

He has won 12 Grand Slam singles titles amongst many others, though he has yet to win the French Open on clay. His titles are as follows:

3 Australian Opens
5 Wimbledon
4 US
4 Tennis Masters Cup titles
14 ATP Masters Series titles

Many consider Federer to be the greatest tennis player of all time.

Federer recently lost his coveted 2008 Wimbledon title to Rafael Nadal in what is reputably considered as the best men’s singles final in recent history.
John McEnroe described the match as: "The greatest match I've ever seen."

He has been ranked Number 1 in the World for a record 237 consecutive weeks, though he relinquishes this title to Rafael Nadal, for the first time later this month.

In 2001 Federer ended the great Pete Sampras's 31-match winning streak at Wimbledon after having won 7 Wimbledon titles throughout his career.
In 2004 Federer almost completed the grand slam winning 3 of the 4 Grand Slam tournaments.
In 2005 Federer again won 3 of the 4 Grand Slams.
In 2007 Federer won 10th Grand Slam title at the Austraian Open.
In May 2007, Federer defeated Nadal on clay for his 1st time, at the Hamburg Masters and ended Nadal's record of 81 consecutive wins on clay, proving that the clay king is beatable on his favoured surface.

2008 has not been a good year for Federer by his previously peerless standards.

At the Australian Open, Federer lost his title to Novak Djokovic
He also lost at the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, California and at the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Florida, where he lost to Andy Roddick.
At the Monte Carlo Masters, Federer lost to three-time defending champion Rafael Nadal 7–5, 7–5. Federer made 44 unforced errors, lost a 4–0 lead in the second set, and fell to 1–7 against Nadal on clay courts.[54]
At the Tennis Masters Series Internazionali d'Italia in Rome, Federer lost to Radek Stepanek.

Federer was then beaten at the Masters Series Hamburg by Nadal.

At the French Open, Federer was again beaten by Nadal.
At the Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada, Federer then lost in the second round to Gilles Simon, and then again at the Cincinnati Masters to Ivo Karlovic.
